Water, Environment & Transport Service Group

What is Water, Environment and Transport Service Group?

The group covers members and branches employed in the water industry and the regulation of the environment. Our membership in the South West region covers the 3 privatised water companies: South West Water, Wessex and Bournemouth and Hants. Our Environment Agency Branch covers the whole of the region (excluding parts of Gloucestershire), as well as incorporating the head office function based in Bristol.

The region does not have any transport members as there are no Passenger Transport Executives within the region.

Why does it exist?

The group coordinates the activities of members and branches within the region. It provides help and guidance to branches on national and local issues and provides help and guidance around bargaining and individual issues.

How does it work?

The group is comprised of delegates from each of the branches within the sector. They meet regularly throughout the year and liaise between meetings. There is a secretary to the group who works with senior colleagues at HQ and provides support to branches within the sector.

Meeting dates

The group meets regularly throughout the year. Dates for future meeting can be obtained from Stuart Roden.

How can you get involved?

Your branch will be represented. You can discuss issues in the first instance with your branch secretary or chair. Nominations to the group will be discussed at your branch's Annual General Meeting.  If you are interested you can seek nomination through your branch. The group can also second members for specific items of interests.
