OT Stewards Forum
The British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) is registered as an independent trade union and has entered into an agreement with UNISON to provide all of the industrial relations function. All BAOT members who are employed as Occupational Therapists or Occupational Therapy Support staff in the UK are automatically UNISON members. BAOT members can elect OT Stewards to represent them. All BAOT members and stewards are members of a UNISON branch. Support for BAOT members and training and support for OT stewards is via your UNISON branch.

The Regional OT Stewards Forum enables OT stewards to meet to discuss issues of common concern and to receive reports from the relevant UNISON and BAOT bodies. The Forum meets twice a year in the region and there is a further meeting at the annual BAOT Stewards national training seminar which takes place in the Autumn.
The Forum nominates a representative to the Regional BAOT Committee and there is an open invitation for the South West Regional BAOT Country Board Member to attend the OT Stewards Forum.
The OT Stewards Forum also elects one representative from Health and one representative from Local Government to the National OT Panel which links directly with and has a seat on BAOT/COT Council which is the governing body of BAOT.

Current issues for BAOT members are Social Enterprise Trusts, downbanding, service redesign, 7 day working and redundancies
