Message from Regional Convenor

UNISON is a lay member* led union.  Three of our senior activists in the South West region are Nick Olgard, Debi Potter and Clytus Wililams.

Regional Convenor - Nick Olgard

Nick works in housing at Cornwall Council and is the Chair of our Cornwall branch.  Until recently, Nick was also Chair of the National Joint Council for Local Government staff, the first South West UNISON activist to have been a Trade Union Side Officer.  Nick also chairs our Finance sub group.

Deputy Convenor - Debi Potter

Debi works for Dorset Police and is seconded full time as the Branch Secretary of the Dorset Police and Justice Branch.  She has been involved in union activity for many years including working closely with the Education Team, playing a key role in helping with lay member union courses.  She has also been involved in the Women's Committee, Equality Strategy and O & D group.

Debi is also the holder of the South West Police and Justice female seat at national service group level.

Organising and Development Committee Chair - Clytus Williams

Clytus works for Bristol City Council.  Clytus is Chair of the O&D Committee and has played a lead activist role in the region for many years as well as at National level.

Regional Secretary - Joanne Kaye

Joanne is Regional Secretary of the South West region  working in the South West for several years as a Regional Manager prior to becoming Regional Secretary.  Joanne worked in UNISON in the West Midlands region before coming to the South West.

*a lay member is union is a member of a union, as opposed to staff who are employed by the union.
